The early adopters of the new Windows Phone 7.8 update (build 8858) who use our Radio Lounge apps will notice that streaming support appears to have broken since the upgrade. The apps report buffering, but eventually fail with a “crikey” message. Our investigations have concluded that the new OS update is missing some of the vital components required for WMA streaming which our radio apps need to stream correctly .
Unfortunately there is no quick and easy fix to prescribe and we are unable to get around the problem from our end. Microsoft are aware of the issue, have identified the cause and tell us that an update is planned, although we don’t have any details on timescales.
We apologise for the inconvenience caused and would ask all of our users to be patient while this issue is resolved. If we get any further information from Microsoft, then you’ll be the first to find out.
If accessing the radio via our apps is vital to you, then we would caution against performing the update to build 8858 until further notice.
