BBC Radio Player Launched

BBC Radio Player TileBBC Radio Player launched for Windows Phone 7. Brings all BBC radio stations direct to your phone.

After many months of testing and tweaking, we can now finally unveil the fruits of our latest project: The BBC Radio Player. A standalone application that allows you to access all of the BBC’s radio channels direct from your Windows Phone.

Building upon the success of Igneous Software’s high-ranking free individual station radio apps (BBC Radio 1, 2, 3 and 4 Player), the latest version allows the user the convenience of choosing your favourite station from within the app as well as full music + video hub integration.

The application comes with the following features:

  • Ability to select from almost 60 BBC Radio stations including BBC 6 Music, BBC 5 Live Sports and all of its regional radio content including BBC Radio London and Radio Ulster.
  • Slick metro-styled electronic programme guide that allows you to see what’s on now and what’s coming up. The guide also shows you how much is left to run of the current programme.
  • Ability to run behind the lock screen.
  • Advanced streaming server management which seeks out the most reliable streaming source for your connection. Audible pips inform the user that servers are being updated in real-time without the user having to intervene.
  • Full integration with the Music + Video hub allowing favourite channels to be stored in the history.

The application is available in the Marketplace now (Search for “BBC Radio Player”) for £0.99 and comes with a free trial version limited to 6 stations including BBC Radio 1Xtra and BBC Radio 4 Extra.

You can find it on Zune Marketplace here.

Note: This application is no way affiliated or endorsed by the BBC or its respective partners.
